Cathy O'Donnell has established herself in the field of mental health over the past 23 years working primarily with couples, teens, and adult individuals. Her general practice provides relationship work, services for life's stressers and transitions, and for past emotional injuries.

Along with general psychotherapy, there are two main areas of specialization and training available to clients. These are in collaborative divorce or mediation, and EMDR therapy for big or little traumas.

If you are contemplating a divorce, Cathy O'Donnell can help couples through the process by co-mediating with a specially trained collaborative attorney. This is a service provided to couples, rather than individuals, as a way to help couples negotiate the resolution of their marriage in a peaceful, low impact manner.

Cathy can also help you to design your parenting plan for after the divorce, help with parenting issues, and help your children with their adjustments to the divorce.

Collaborative Divorce Coaching and Child Specialist are also areas that Cathy has attained special training. She is a certified mediator focusing on the helping people through the dissolution process to find win win solutions. This approach to a very difficult time in people's lives can be extremely helpful by assisting people in maintaining dignity throughout the process. She is a presenter in the Divorce Options Workshops and volunteers on the Sacramento group's Board of Directors.

Another area of marriage dissolution that Cathy O'Donnell can help with is the separation of personal properties. She works closely with couples to help them establish agreements that both people are satisfied with. The emotional overload from ending a marriage can be especially difficult while trying to divide possessions.

In the area of trauma, Cathy is specially trained and certified as a level II EMDR therapist to help people overcome past traumas, whether large or small, or relationship based trauma. She also uses EMDR to help people stenghthen their sense of self-worth and self-esteem.

She is certified in the Mitchell Model of Critical Stress Debriefing to assist with the communities immediate needs after a traumatic event. She leads groups and sees individuals in both the public and private sector after traumatic incidences occur.
